Time Is the Knife

Each week that goes by
Draws more blood from my veins
Time is the knife
Inflicting my pain

I count the hours
Minutes, per day
Like a harrowing crash
I can’t look away

From the steady tick tick
Of the clock on the wall
Reminding me daily
That you haven’t called

Each shift of the hand
Seals further my fate
Stabs more at my heart
Locks tighter the gate

Ironic, is it not?
That you used to be mine
And we started..and ended...

In a moment in time.
