Time Blinks

A choreographed dance of heart and deed
fulfills the spirit that denounces greed.

Why, now, should there still be hunger
when all around there’s food to plunder?
Silos sleep, filled to the brim with grain
for prices elevated to obtain more gain.

Why, now, should our children weep
from hunger pains that chases sleep?
Man sneers at over indulgent greed
when there are empty mouths to feed.

Time blinks in favor of a heart that’s giving
and shares the joy of their own thanksgiving.

Hi Debra, I just wanted to stop by and let you know how much I appreciate all your wonderful comments on my poems in the past. Haven't heard from the bayou in a while. I hope all is good and you are happy, peaceful and content. :)

Hello Debra, don't fall over from shock now. :) It's been a while. I just wanted to tell you to go and listen to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils song, It's how you think. It's a pretty song and also speaks to this poem you wrote. It's on the album, Men from earth. I hope we both write some new stuff. I hope you are doing well. Me? I've had a little episode in my life. Ohhh, let's just say that sometimes we have angels intervene on our behalf. :) Well, I hope to read you soon. Peace. :)

Maybe if we sit and stare. The world will see the need to share.

I so agree with you on this poem. Greed seems to have our children weeping. Hunger pains becoming the norm. So sad the world is in this state. We must remember to share and to give. Nice one. love phyl
