Time and Talent

I suppose it shouldn't come as such a terrible shock, That each of us is allotted just so many ticks O' the clock. The gifts of time and talent used well are our responsibility, So at the end of life's bourne we can prove accountability! Like the Biblical parable of the talents, we are abundantly blessed, With very special opportunities and abilities to invest. Being faithful and pressing on with resolute devotion, Will result in showers of laurels and well-deserved promotion! 'Tis well to take time to admire the roses along the way, And to tell your loved ones that you love them every day. For the rights and aspirations of others, take a firm stand, And offer to needy and helpless folks a compassionate hand. The sands of time flow inexorably thro' life's hour glass. Woefully, time can't be reimbursed and doth so quickly pass. Alas, many folks have lived a life of pitiful disarray, Having squandered their time and God-given talent away. That dormant talent you're loath to use for feats great or small, Could be used to accomplish little, rather than nothing at all. Good use of time and talent to Him 'twill be observant, And He can say of you, "Well done my good and faithful servant!" Robert L. Hinshaw, CMSgt, USAF, Retired (© All Rights Reserved)
