Time

Time
the inscutable
transient host
Divider of hearts
Provider of dreams
clothes our desires
in a mantle of silk
where memories languish
like heart-shaped lockets
falling open
at a cherished whim
Partly shown
partly concealed
they appeal
to those who envy youth
while pledging wisdom
Nothing ventured
nothing gained
and
nothing
but echoing time
remains
