Time
If was a surprise for I did not know
It was heart and strokes the family history showed
And I grew more and more tired thought it was age
Then I could not come up with simple words I knew
Ah a stroke but the emergency doctor was not sure
So into a helicopter onto Stanford we flew
MRI and the best doctor gave me an answer
Seizures and malignant cancer
I admit I could not fully comprehend
I was so tired and the brain does defend
Although it was the brain that had acquired this fiend
But still though I knew my life would soon be careening
Beyond anything I knew or would know
Then surgery and radiation and chemo
Would become a daily routine due to it's rareness
Aware of a pending end and life’s unfairness
Went by quickly because there just wasn’t time
With all the work-- a mention of three years or five
And then a few months of complete awareness
Now I have a helper and my dogs and arthritis
And the world suffered from that crazy virus
So there just hasn’t been time
And I am not listening for a bell to chime
Instead after my vaccines now I am connecting
Fully as much as possible with the summertime
