Time

It is our greatest enemy
Killing us all gradually
Try as you may you can't get away
It will take all of us someday

For most it will come too soon
Like the sunrise or new moon
We stay just ahead of the shadows they cast
Like knowing the future but not the past

Some will mistake it for a friend
Never suspecting the bitter end
It leaves scars on some, others bruises
A few it doesn't touch at all, just confuses

You can't fight it or push it back
The weapons needed we simply lack
Down in the hole impossible to climb
There's nothing you can do when its your time
