Tight Rope

remember when you cared, remember when there was hope. when life was a balance beam, not a thin tight rope. when you still had innocence. before life made you numb. when you thought you knew, before you knew you were dumb. hard knock life, then you realize what's true. when you finally understand, that all you have is you. not so reassuring, endless search for love, never found on earth, unheard from up above. but it's ok. yeah,it's alright. once the shock is through, when you realize all you have is you. then you don't expect, you learn not to hope. and you just get used to living, up high on the tight rope.
