Tidal Pull

In that September early evening The waves came strolling in From far beyond my line of sight. The horizon was nothing But a fading glimpse of yesterday As the day turned into night. Water lapped up on the sand Completing its titanic, oceanic journey Before turning back once more; Flooding my mind With thoughts, emotions and memories At the edge of the ocean floor. As I watched the water swirl into eddies And tide pools attract everything From sea urchins to cephalopods Reminding me that we’re all in-different Phases of tidal pull until returning Back to God. The colors in the sky were brilliant As if Michelangelo and Da Vinci Had been hired to paint the scene. And sitting there watching the sun disappear I was struck by the idea that as the old song sings: Life is but a dream.

It seems as if, like Michelangelo and Da Vinci, you had been hired to pen this scene with master word-crafting. So vivid is your description you had me right there with you on the beach. I could feel the sun blotting out the brilliant colors and the tide pulling the waves back in, leaving you with the notion of nothingness. I hope you had your camera at the ready to capture that moment. Brilliant write. Licia :)

Thanks so much M'Lady. I wish I'd had the camera there also but the truth is, this one is partly truth and partly fiction (like so many poems I suppose)...bits & pieces, fragments of memories from here, there & everywhere. Thanks again:) Terry

Ilene, thanks again for reading/glad you approve. This one's a combination of memories from beach scenes in Florida as well as here in Egypt. And yes - modern technology is a WONDERFUL thing - keeping me in touch with good people and great poets like yourself. Thanks again. Terry
