Behind an old window,
A young girl often gazed,
Through a thin shattered pane,
Through a large hole unglazed.
Wistfully observing
The uncaring world pass,
Feeling invisible
To the more wealthy mass.
When life became too tough,
Her daydreams would unfold,
As protection against her
Brave hopes growing cold.
Where her mind could explore,
Expanding like light-gas,
And her thoughts could escape
Through the hole in the glass.
