Through black and gold

I wrote a hymn for all of us who are struggling. Remember that we are the light and we're never alone. Keep shining. Keep believing.

Through black and gold

It's dark here, Lord
Your name is the only light
I'm frightened and battle weary
No longer wanting to stay and fight 

And yes, I know, Lord
That you are always by my side 
But I'm only human - only human
Sometimes the fears don't subside 

I lift my voice and sound your name
I say a prayer and raise Heaven's flame 
For there's a fire that flows through me
And that fire you share, it sets me free

I lift my heart and ignite my soul 
The love you give me, it makes me whole 
No matter where, no matter how
I know you'll be there, Lord, through black and gold

It's lighter here, Lord
Your name has risen my soul
I'm calmer and stronger now
I'm ready to rise and be bold

And yes, I know, Lord
That you are always by my side 
But I'm only human - only human
I'll hold on to faith and thrive

I lift my voice and sound your name
I say a prayer and embrace Heaven's grace
For there's a hope that flows through me
And that grace you share, it sets me free

I lift my heart and ignite my soul 
The love you give me, it makes me whole 
Through every day, in every way
I know you'll be there, Lord, through black and gold
