Three Wishes

A bottle was floating in front of my eyes And drifted ashore from the sea. I gazed in amazement when to my surprise The message enclosed was to me! I'd been on the island for twenty-one years All hope of escape had grown thin. On reading the note my eyes glistened with tears, Three wishes were granted within. How long I had prayed isolation would cease, Yet clear was the choice I must make; I wished that the world might know love, hope and peace Then prayed that my heart would not break. 27/10/18 'Three wishes poetry contest' : Sponsored by: Kevin Shaw
