Three Wishes

Three wishes are granted to those who capture
the source of the rainbows enchanter,

fast moving, he plays in the rays of the sun
and the trickery of enigma, has begun.

For hope and happiness and health, beget some
the wicked they want for; money, lust and fun.

But hold true to yourself, he is a powerful force,
and not one to reckon with unless of course...

you can best the trickster on a Samhain eve,
by staring him down so he cannot leave.

Choose wisely my friend as he holds all the power
and can hand you a seeming gift, one that will devour.

Chris Green October 24, 2018 at 12:24 PM Ah, somehow I think I know the challenge. : ) I really enjoyed this one, the meter or cadence was song like and had me singing, out of key but singing nonetheless. Wonderfully written and I will add, I am sure this poem will be someone's wish come true. Lifes' Tapestry October 24, 2018 at 6:20 PM I have entered many and there is 8 to go, i think. But reward is not my goal, and i think some of them are wrong, one in particular should just be binned. Not even I wish to read it - a cumbersome cringe. I have stood still for too long and persist I will.
