Thousands of Jubilating Wings
In waves and bursts
of exhilarating jubilation,
as among long-lost friends
meeting in a chance reunion,
tens of thousands of tiny
fluttering wings swoop and flit
in feathery frolic, echoing
every chirp, every twit.
In swarms they swirl across
the darkening island skyline,
spiralling round the towering
tree like a giant vine.
Then, snuggling close and tight
for the night at the canopy,
the Lansijang swallows
of Bohol doze off serenely...
