Thought Petals
I stand with my high window
to the world flung open wide,
and feel the breath of time's relentless flow.
With inward glance,
I turn to touch the blossomed thoughts inside,
and fragile petals fall like summer snow.
Their faint aroma rises,
fragrant memories of the past,
as carefully I turn them in my mind.
Then, praying they might
touch the earth with gentleness, at last,
I release them to the breezes, cruel or kind.
