Those Who Wait

The full moon shone down On them as the world spun round And the magic of its light Foretold on the dangers lined up against the right It’s power reinvigorated the festering ones As they were awakened with their evil to be done They scratched and dug their way out Once free they slivered and crawled about And so they waited for the lonely ones Lost and searching coming undone When they pounced on them Consuming all with nothing left in the end So if you are out late at night Don’t be alone because if just ain’t right To be one of the lost souls ended When they are watching for you in their silence extended. © Paul Warren Poetry
