Those We Miss
I talk to you in my dreams
The girl with the purest soul
You would sing to me way off key and tell me I'm so beautiful
I tried to be your saving grace when you lost all control
That smile upon your porcelain face, I'll never let it go
Your fragile body gave up it's fight
I wasn't there in time to see
Fate swooped in that January night and took you away from me
I got the call and rushed to you, tears filled my eyes
I fell to my knees in disbelief at your morbid disguise
Along the way you lost yourself
Lines got crossed
I had nothing left
I walked away when you needed me most
I can never forgive myself
But tonight I'll make a toast
To laughter and to tears shed
To the ones we will never forget
To the first kiss or the last embrace
A shot of whiskey or soft linen and lace
Whatever you meant to each of us
Forget the lies and broken trust
We will remember the good, toss out the bad
Because if we could, we'd take it all back
So cheers to the beers and the glasses of wine
We will dry the tears one day at a time
