Those Online Romances

Those Online Romances By Elton Camp There have been cases where folks met online When they met in person, they got along fine But finding a mate like this is a dangerous way You never know if you can trust what they say So please be on the alert for any warning sign That you're about to be robbed till you're blind Do you know his address and talk on the phone Or does he says that info shouldn't be known Do you know when and where it is he works Online are found so many unemployed jerks Was he quick to say that he loves you so dear If so, then his sincerity you have reason to fear He probably won't ask you for money outright But he may hint around to see if you'll bite And, if he loves you as much as he does say He'll arrange to meet and not some distant day It is far too easy ourselves to utterly deceive We've found our soul-mate we want to believe

This is an honest and strong poem about the dangers today. It's easy to deceive and lie on the web. Nice way to warn everyone. Good job

Thanks, I wrote it largely for an older woman who started contacting me. She was desperately lonely and was allowing men to victimize her financially with declarations of their "love" for her. I guess she didn't want to hear it as she stopped sending me messages shortly after this poem appeared. At least I did what could to warn her. Elton
