Those Crafty Old Folks

Children like to craft things,
but then they start to grow.
Pretty soon they’re old
and strange things start to show.

Hair in wrong places
Wrinkles on faces
Bulbous modules
Bilious nodules

When adult children retire,
creativity often re-springs.
Even though they got old
they return to the crafting of things.

A great deal of satisfaction can be had by making something with your own hands. Of course then again how many pottery ashtrays can you pawn off on your family.

Busted! And, I have time to write sillies, hang out at the trough, take naps, read books, ride bike and hike...plus, I just read all your poems. I haven't had that much fun in a long time! I'll be over to chat up in your comments section later. Don't know how you got to my house, but I'm guessing it wasn't in search of quality poetry:-) cheerduckins! ~ john

Hi Cas! It would make my mind great for the first time! ;-) You and Abby just keep on crafting and maybe you'll never age like Deb says in her comment ;-) Sure like seeing your paintwork & PO's on fb. Huggadoodles ~ john

Bahahahaha!!!(GOTD) ;) you're too funny!! Does this mean I have not aged since I never stopped creating things? I must have missed a step in the hierarchy of self-actualization. ;) Big Hugggs!! Deb.

I'd call that, "evolving in the express lane" ;-) Wish I'd known I didn't have to go through the "adult" stage:-). Cheers and chinkletons! ~ j

If I ever retire I'm going to sit in my rocking chair and work on crossword puzzles and if get bored make origami things; even though they will probably turn out to be all paper airplanes…enjoyed your poem John!:)
