Those Around Me

When those around me can do no wrong
It’s a wonderful state of mind
When it’s their voices amplifying the song
The most beautiful singing I find

I like myself better when I love them
And the light shines bright in their eyes
My love for them is filled to the brim
Like the stars fill the nighttime skies

When others around me seem to walk on water
It’s not that I’m in denial
I’m just thinking of them as I probably ought to
And loving them all of the while

Every fault I overlook in another
And weakness I just don’t see
Is looking at them as they appear to their mother
And not as they appear to me

I like myself better when I’m loving my brother
When I’m loving my sister you see
Petty differences don’t seem like a bother
When I just learn to let them be

I have found the best way I can look at my friends
Is also the best way to be free
Because no one has ever needed more Grace…
Than when the Creator is looking at me
