This Sunday
Sunday morning is like a looking glass on the week
The lessons I’ve learned with the beauty I seek
The more that I learn I see the less I do know
Sunday morning becomes the week in a picture show.
It’s sort of like seeing life in a rear view
All that I see I’ve already been through
As I view this week in review
I see how much I still need to do.
I go outside to take a walk
People passing by stop to talk
I don’t really know them but it doesn’t matter
All of a sudden my thoughts start to scatter.
I sit on a park bench to rest for a while
As I watch all the people I start to smile
My eyes see each day quite different than before
It all feels brand new so I take in some more.
I climb up this hill so I can look down
The colors and light hit me without making a sound
I see two squirrels chasing each other, playing around
In every direction there is beauty to be found.
On my way back the church is on the way
People are lined up to go in and pray
I think to myself I’m uneasy on my knees
So I look to the Sky and ask God please.
I feel so much peace on this Sunday
It finds its way into the words I say
I feel fortunate to be here today
Then I just turn and go on my way.
