This Prison

Locked away in this prison of pain
A place without a key
My hopes and dreams no longer remain
As my memories torment me

Broken promises, my prison guards
They watch me as I sleep
Trying to escape this house of cards
But buried way too deep

Tomorrow is just another day
That's like the one before
Nothing takes the pain away
I'm only finding more

Comfort has abandoned me
It does not know my name
It reminds me of what used to be
I know not who to blame

This prison is a lonely place
Where pain will not depart
It's now become an empty space
This prison is my heart

Awesome, Larry. Great description of "rock bottom". Gloom and despair. Depressing. Well written. Super job. Ralph

I always expect haikus from you. This time it's a wonderful write with nice rhyming with a very nice theme of the heart as a prison, Larry
