This Old Man and the Cabin

Dusted shelves
cobweb lanterns
weak floors tell tales
of those who walked.

Rusted nails
explain no answers
his wooden
frail,
rustic box.

(so he burned it)

"Leave this planet
you darkened cabin.
spare this old man his sanity!"

He burned his past
smoke carried it vast.
off to heaven
to the Old Man's family.
