This Is Our Society

This is our society
I hope to be sincere
But life here is certainly not
All that it does appear

This is our society
I want you to be aware
That here the people only care
Of what you say and wear

This is our society
It matters only what they see
Not the true works of honesty
But big shows of “Look at me!”

This is our society
I beg of thee turn back
For all is void of truth and tact
And evil is in no lack

This is our society
And I tire of being here
This is our society
And its scars I still bear
