This Hungry Land

With the prison bars behind him A different life has died He now reads the bible For he knows how Satan lied... With a bible and a guitar He’s finally free at last The songs that he’s writing Become sermons of his past. IN that lonely café People keep pouring in Burnout from addictions Suffering from sin... He’ll look beyond the ceiling Whispering a prayer Help me feed this hungry land That I see everywhere. Days can be a nightmare On the streets without a meal Where the devils always looking For someone to make a deal... He knows the pain of hunger He felt in the prison cell But tonight he tells the world About a place called hell... IN that lonely café People keep pouring in Burnout from addictions Suffering from sin... He’ll look beyond the ceiling Whispering a prayer Help me feed this hungry land That I see everywhere. Behind the scenes he’s wondering How many will come to day The lonely, cold, and hungry He says lord hear me as I pray... This road will see me only once Help me be a better man With this guitar and bible Help me feed this hungry land
