This Day Is Mine

Like a statue of clay
my life has been
over and over
time and again

always keeping
a silent tongue
not realizing
the damage being done

days did pass
tears did fall
and one by one
I counted them all

under my breath
I pledged to change
but day after day
always the same

all these years
all by myself
not ever asking
for any help

today is mine
I finally break free
this is my day
the day I will leave
