This Cynicism

Your cynicism burns my mind
I’m up in flames and now denied
All sense of growing has been lost
Instead I just crumble then I rot

Can’t find the water for this fire
The world is dry and I am tired
All sense of justice comes undone
The truth is forgotten, the lies have won

My cynicism spares me none
Down we go, and then we’re gone
All sense of self goes up in smoke
And when I awake I’ll find no hope

Still can’t rewrite the book you burnt
The world is dying; it’s all I’ve learnt
All sense of freedom is in chains
All of my love will be for pain

This cynicism chills my core
My charcoal heart can burn no more
All sense of everything is glass
And if I turn, my heart will smash

This cynicism turns to dust
The search for an answer has my trust
All sense of self becomes so clear
I can only wake up and overcome this fear
