Thinking of Leaving
I was just thinking…
What if one day,
We stop the ship from sinking,
Pack our bags, and sail away.
The beauty we’d see,
Forever in our grasp,
Becoming whoever we wished to be,
Finally freed of our mask.
Never stopping to think,
What if?
Never regretting a blink,
Falling for no quip,
Loving the freedom,
And screaming at fate,
Wandering with no rhythm,
Never to be late.
This could be us,
Running towards the sun,
Taking with no fuss,
Only ever having fun.
But as I open my eyes,
I know it’ll never happen,
For you’re my despise,
One that will never dampen.
So I’ll just keep thinking,
Dreaming of the day,
The day you’ll stop drinking,
The day I find the right words to say.
