Thinking For Myself
My thoughts are mine and mine alone
Thoughts that I claim to be my own.
Until I find my thinking's wrong
These thoughts will stay where they belong
I try to keep an open mind.
So that I can understand thoughts of another kind
People whose opinions I trust
I listen, that's a must
Which helps me to take a broader view
Of everything, I think and do
I want to learn so I don't fall
Into a human cesspool
And mistakes I've made, I'll not repeat.
I know it's hard, I must try
Not to look at the world
With a jaundiced eye
