Things That Would Have Been
I once had a lovely girl in my sight
who loved me like I was her light.
Her beauty could make Freyja jealous.
Her charm could best even that of Venus.
But the thought of losing her one day
prompted my heart to walk away.
For I may not even endure, no matter how I try
to see the pain and tears in her eye.
For this wretched soul was poorer than a rat.
Who would have liked a life like that?
So I decided to climb my mountain
to have her one day in a rain-like fountain.
So I followed my way through the stars.
I didn't think she'd cause my scars.
For everyday, I thought of her
in every fate that I'd conquer.
I wished that time still had the answer.
But time passed faster than I could remember.
Though, thoughts of her in my memory
is as vivid as the tale of century.
Had I stayed, I would have been
the king of hearts, and she's my queen.
She would have been the muse of my poetry
that ever dazzles like Terpsichore.
