Things That Stay

Some things don’t leave with time,
they settle in the corners slow,
like dust upon a windowpane
that only quiet hours know.

A word, a look, a half-breathed thought,
can stay longer than we plan,
not everything that ends is gone—
some lives inside what we began.

And I have learned to let them be,
these small unspoken parts of me,
not all that stays is meant to hurt,
some things just choose to simply be.

This poem is about memories and emotions that stay with us over time. It shows that not everything we experience disappears—some feelings quietly remain and shape who we are.

This is so true. Some things we hold on to can lay dormant for decades, sitting quietly on the window seal with others. While memories will always remain and we learn from most, the actual experience can never be replayed. Your poem reaches the mind. - Christopher Haywood

Isha, so well penned. Some things stay that we wish would go away.

The shadow of things we feel stay forever. Only if we can make these things into a strength should they remain. Nice write.
