Things Change

They started off with an attitude that looked like unclouded blue skies But after a few years or so they started to see that their attitude had changed to a dusty rugged road With no apparent reason as to why Their smiles had turned into a smirk of disdain And the words were as few as if saying “Hello” stirred pain and was a strain So they both begun to complain “You don’t do this” “And you don’t do that “I’m doing my best” “Well your best seems less” “Less than what” “Whatever is considered your best” Another year passed and they started talking more Eating together and well, dating. They were married But the routine had created a riff He started joking more and she started laughing more Their relationship was no longer at the edge of a cliff They danced in the living room in candle light shadows And they bathed together in rose peddled water They hugged with an immense amount of gratitude Without an interlude what they rekindled could not be misconstrued His eyes were now all aglow And her eyes sparkled now than ever before And they both believed that only love has the power to restore.
