Things Change
Just when you thought
the past was an experience
remarkable and memorable beyond belief
and nothing in our future could match it
things change.
Just when America leads the free world
the economy did a turnaround
the housing market crashed
when equality seemed closer than ever
things change.
Just when bureaucracy began to fade
the swamp filled up again
and politics in Washington
became nothing but a masquerade
things change.
Just give me a little hope on the horizon
where truth and justice
return to the American way
and freedom for all is the parade
when things change.
