They Told Me I Am Going To Die

They told me I am going to die,
God decided why,
I don’t know what day I will go,
That is not for me to know.

I am thankful I have a warning,
Instead of waking up dead some morning,
I have a chance to say goodbye,
Before my day comes to die.

I am thankful at least,
That I am at peace,
Few regrets over the years,
A happy life with few tears.

I only worry that after I go,
That I may never know,
If my family will follow me,
Into eternity.

They told me I am going to die,
God decided why,
When that day comes and I must go,
I will join God I know.

Have a huge lump in my throat reading your emotive poem. my mother received several 'goodbye' letters from her pen pal and husband who lived in the Netherlands where euthanasia is practiced. both were terminally ill she with a brain tumour and he with cancer. I guess knowing you are going to pass away gives you chance to put your affairs in order and be at peace with the world. hugs jan xx

There are no guarantees in this life. Take the time to smell the roses along the way and tell your loves how you feel about them. Thank you

You know what Tim? I believe you! A man of strong conviction. It has been said, where ever you go, you will take someone with you. I love your poem and the fact the you are at peace with God's will:) God bless you.
