They Remember
My small-town life was much more than I could ever ask for.
It was filled with lots of love from my friends and family.
I had a wife and children whom I completely adored.
It was a lot of work, but worth it, in the end, for me.
The last years of my life were filled with happiness and joy.
I wouldn’t have changed it for anything in the world.
Though I didn’t push you, I got a grandchild, a boy
And, a few years later, a wonderful little girl.
Though my time spent with them was short, it was sweet as can be.
I enjoyed being a grandpa with the time that I had.
I’m still a grandpa, just watching from afar, you see.
I’ve watched them grow every day, from above, so don’t be sad.
Though the two of them may have been young when I passed away,
They have memories of me whether they know it or not.
It may be subconscious, but they hear from me every day.
Just know, I send all of you my love with all that I’ve got.
