There Was a Community

There was a community! Yes! There used to that community Where there was unity Irrespective of our ethnicity There was little or no attention on religion diversity It did not matter either you were in a village or city Neither did it matter either you were in polytechnic or university We were all one in unity Men’s watchwords were honesty and integrity With women…purity, dignity and humility Little or no attention was centered on femininity or masculinity We were all one in unity So what happened to that community? That used to live in unity What has happened to that community? That I don’t need to change my name to Charity Or alter my state of origin before getting admission into a university Where is that community? That I don’t need to consider my family Before asking out the Pretty Sally To follow me to alter in emotional unity What has happened to that community? Where despite the area boys’ rascality We still have 100% guarantee of security Where is that community? Where genuine love last eternity Where is that community? That I don’t need to prove my love sacrificing my virginity Where I can respect whoever is in the position of authority Without considering his ethnicity Where – is – that – community - ? Because there was once a community Where there was unity That we left the community is our fault So let us go back to default ABSOL - 07032277508

Well done Oluwasola, I thoroughly enjoyed your poem, especially the ending where you change the default, making your point with it. Brilliant.
