Written for my stepdad upon his death after suffering several years from dementia.

______________________________________________________________________

There is no need to mourn, for he will go to where no thunder quakes, no harsh winds blow. He's going to the light where he will find the ones who wait, the ones who are enshrined within his heart, his kin of long ago. He leaves this earth and leaves the life he chose, proceeding to that tender light that glows in front of him, no more to be confined! There is no need to mourn. A kind and friendly man, he had no foe but one, the fiend that comes one day to show itself, then slowly ravages the mind. But grace has come and though we're left behind, it’s to his sweet revival he will go. . . There is no need to mourn.

Andrea, I'm sorry to see this one not rewarded with a higher placement, especially on Easter Sunday and your theme of life after death. This is poignant and touching and spiritual and hits all the right notes for me. Beautiful message and lovely poetry. Hugs ~ John

It's a devastating condition. You have occasional contact, if you are lucky. You're right... 'grace must come through.' He has found his just reward. God bless, Keith

Congrats on your win with this touching tribute, Andrea. I remember you telling me about your stepfather's dementia. It's awful to watch. My grandfather suffered terribly in the beginning knowing what was to come. Then, we suffered watching it happen. I'm sorry so many families are affected. Thank God for the peace that comes with faith. Love and Blessings

God's blessings to you all, Andrea! It would have been difficult for all concerned. You have allowed him a beautiful release, "to his sweet revival he will go". A poignant and touching verse, but written from a positive angle. Well done, Andrea! Love, Mikki

It’s a beautiful tribute to your stepfather, who is no more Andrea. We actually miss a lot more when someone very dear and near to us goes away from us and then we realize how painful it is, to miss a loving dear one. Your words show how close your stepfather was to you. May God give him peace and to you the courage to face this pain. Love and best wishes...Ravindra....Andrea Dietrich

so sad when that happens--did you lose your dad early in life or is he still alive and then stepdad came. this computer at the kids is different to type on but heading home on the bus tonight. I didn't drive up this week because still tired and coughing from that flu. Nice to sit back and read. Will be home tonight around 9.30 as it takes 3 hours to home. talk to you soon

It is a state that imprisons a person without them knowing or having an awareness. I believe the pain is felt by those who love and support the person. It is never easy.

Grief and mourning won't be denied. It's only natural when someone died. Their essence shining one last time. To fill your pages with a rhyme. Welcoming arms of hero's passed. To bring them comfort and peace at last. With faithful hearts and souls we pray. To be with them all, one sweet day.
