There Is No Easy Way Out
There is no easy way to die,
Nor to love the unlovable,
Nor to bear the weight of silent tears
That rise like waves against the shore.
I am growing tired, my voice is lost
In the winds that carry dreams away,
And I long for rest, for peace of mind,
For solace beneath the stars.
I love my country, though it grieves,
The land I cherish, wild and free,
Its fields and rivers, mountains tall,
The gentle growth of every tree.
Spread out the moon, the stars, the sea,
And let them wash away this ache—
To hold my land, to hold the night,
And in the dark, to find my way.
