There Are Predators Out There

I cannot fathom life without an internet.
But I wish teenagers were not being cyberbullied.
I love my poetry sites, and instant access to friends.
But teens are mean to each other, sight unseen.

The internet lets me diagnosis myself. Who needs doctors?
But children are posting missives about cutting and killing themselves.
Making this sound normal; giving other children ideas.
So many contrasting emotions about technology!

I am in touch with my childhood friends after twenty years.
Teenagers are posting photos of themselves skimpily clad.
There are predators out there, utilizing the internet.
Sliding quickly past my pages, hunting our children.

You can credit Donald J Trump for the rise of predator status and subsequent increase in predators! Aloha!

Unfortunately you are very right about this observation, Caren. Scary, indeed.

There are many pros to the internet, as you mentioned, but it has an evil side as well. I had to take away my kids' phones because they were using them in bad ways.

The predators have masterful ways of manipulating children without seeing them in person, and the children are unaware thinking they are texting a person their own age when it is often not the case.
