Thenthereistomorrow
In the arms of my hammock, swaying with the breeze in leisure and dream
Smiles of yesterday swim swirled wave of memories down stream
I can picture what was, I can see what is or might have been
Yet somehow it is my wonder, if youth was not all an innocent sin
Carefree and brazen disregard for the fate as lust was in the color of my cheek
For what was beneath the hidden exterior of life, began an unending desire to peek
Her pouting lips and tanned skin draped in sun dressed glory, I began to believe
feelings of love and devotion to beauty are here to stay for doubting souls to relieve
As Nature has weaved into my hearts core a place only to be left hollow
Should loneliness in her departure, truly there would be great pain to follow……
Resting in a hammocks rope twisted comfort till fate and the roads unforeseen bend
Dump me onto the ground and bring my dreams to an end…….
I venture to say it is of great pleasure and adventure to be young and grow old
Trading the hammock for rocking chair, I’ll have stories to be told…..
