Then There Was Love
Then There Was Love
Life was a dark and empty place –
No color filled my world –
Only shadows and promises
Of springtime blooms, uncurled.
Some things I can remember well –
Like spring recalls the dove.
First there was me, then there was you –
And then, yes then, there was love.
A hope of love, inside my soul
Cried out to be set free.
Until you filled my empty life
I had no place to be.
I had no place to sing my song –
No one to share my love.
You stepped into my empty heart –
And then, yes then, there was love.
Love sweetened all the bitterness.
Love conquered all the wrongs.
Love brought me hope and tenderness.
Love authored all my songs.
I held a hope inside of me –
As skies hold stars above.
You replaced hope with reality –
And then, yes then, there was love.
