Their Sorrow

Life is
but a show
for stars
the moon
and the sun.

Emotions are
for little kids
as they play
and run.

Love is
just a fairytale
from books
from poems
never to be won.

Living is
just a dream
from which
we never wake.

Feelings are
awful things
their pain
their sorrow
strong they ache.

Love is
but a fantasy
never a reality
never can partake.

Lark Ascending... This is your Legacy for them. Feelings are necessary things...to grow. In time they will learn the truth of it all. Children (children that grow into adults) go searching for the 'elusive'. They develop minds of their own. Sometimes they find good, sometimes they find bad. Underneath the soil, is always LOVE, in some form. Love is all that is asked for and searched for, in the end. No matter how long it takes. x

It was written during a particularly dark time for me.

My depression from another time often left me wondering why should I bother trying at all. The poem puts me in mind of Paul Simon’s line, “If I never loved I never would have cried.” Liked the poem.

Thanks much J. I just noticed this review, sorry so tardy. I was removed briefly after an unpleasant altercation with another man who calls himself a poet.

That ending panged, excellent write. I like little poems with big impact. Your poem reminded me of a line from Thanks for Sharing, “feelings are like children, you can’t let them drive and you don’t want to leave them in the trunk” ...or something like that. xomo

It was written during a time of great loss for me. It was as low of a point as any. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.
