The Worlds Passing By and I Dont Care

letting the wold pass by
letting pass over my head
the world has said enough

and so i will not go back to my old ways
how i ponder over the past
how it all made sense
and my soul needed no defense

but what is it now
when i have to defend my credibility
this is my American dream
why are they trying to take it from me

where is my house
its gone
and where is my family
they left me

so what is there to do
what else is there to do
but let the world pass by
if the world will fade away
i wouldnt care today

cause its me and my guitar
just playin through those hard times
(thanks for that nickel your all to kind)
i play through the day
playing under the stars
for the people in broken down cars
i play a tune that makes me cry
and hope there are angels in the sky

i watch the the cars driving on by
they dont know how lucky they are
to just drive on

but i say to me
there are people worse than me

some cannot see the worlds beauty
some cannot hear
and some peoples lives are lived in fear

so who am i

just a lonely guy with his guitar
playing for the heavens tonight
