The World Retaliates

A herd of birds and little bees,
whip through the tall oak trees
flowers grow in a different hue
 a beautiful earthly view.
 Gracious was the painter he,
created beauty for all to see
songs of nature sing the stream
it babbles with the rocks between.
The land whispers of a birth,
something old and new from this earth
 the sun reflects and retracts
Mother nature is taking back.
We must give as we take,
to often fix what we break
but too soon it will be too late
and the world itself will retaliate.
What it gives will all be gone
The last of our loving home
the world is tired when people quit
deciding to take care of it.

In fab rhyming you've summed up Nature's give and take and inspiring concerns for mother earth. I loved the painter line denoting the Creator. Kudos for a great poem! <<<<<<<>>>>>>>^^^^^^^>>>>><<<<<<<< Plz read and comment my newest poem too.

Your poem is filled with beautiful and vivid imagery. I also love the rhyme. A timely reminder that we need to take care of the environment. Well-crafted, well-written.

Wow an awesome rhyming poem with beautiful imagery to thank for and then the hard-hitting words showing man's destructive ways. Kudos! <<<<<<<>>>>>>>^^^^^^^>>>>><<<<<<<< Plz read and comment my newest poem too.

Aren't we already paying the price for what we did to the earth? Still, we keep doing the same. Sad but who cares!! :-( Man is busy building himself up by destroying everything on which he stands!!

I suppose that is true, but we are only human. We could all do better than we do. Thanks for stopping in to leave a comment. Take care.

Beautifully written and so much truth to this, Jessica. Such a shame how mankind has destroyed so much beauty...in time the world will retaliate...unfortunately, you and I will be long gone when that happens. Lovely poem! Hugs Charlie

Thank you Charlie for leaving a kind message. I know I have not really done my share of helping, but I suppose we all get complacent and lazy lol. I am sure you are right in your thoughts on it. Glad you enjoyed the read. Take care and have a good one. Your Friend, Jess :)

Good Morning, Jessica :) Nature is a gift and a wondrous sight to see. We take advantage of the beauty and ignore to take care of her. Sometimes, I try not to feel the reality of it all. One day we will pay for not fixing things fast enough. Are we really planting enough? The opening of your poem is beautiful and meaningful. Thank you so much for sharing. This has been a pleasure to read this morning. Always ~LINDA~

Hi Jessica, I fell into your rhythmic poem right off, love it! I hope there's still time, but I agree with your summations summarily! had the opportunity to speak with our own (Minnesota) explorer Will Steger 11 yrs ago following his return from witnessing the calving of Ice Shelf B in Iceland, he was not optimistic, but encouraged me to keep writing poetry about it, I have to work harder at that, thank you for your efforts! all my best, love, jim
