The Wonder of Christmas
The Wonder of Christmas
Kevin Davis, 2024
When I was very young, Christmas brimmed with wonder,
Running here and there, our world a joyful thunder.
We watched the glowing lights and felt snowflakes fall,
Parents, brothers, sisters—together, one and all.
We visited our friends and family, joy everywhere,
Green trees, sweet music, and treats we loved to share.
Each day we searched through catalogs of toys and dreams,
And wrote our hopeful letters, weaving Christmas schemes.
On Christmas morn we woke with bright and eager eyes,
Presents wrapped in colors—each a glad surprise.
The scent of pine and cinnamon filled the air,
As carols by the fire warmed hearts with love and care.
Laughter rang, stories spun, traditions old and new;
Within that home of love, our happiness just grew.
And never did we lose the truth of how joy began—
The Son of God was born to free the soul of man.
So now each year, as gentle snowflakes fall,
We gather close and cherish one and all.
With love and light, we celebrate and know:
In Christmas magic, peace and hope still to glow.
