The Wonder of Christmas

The Wonder of Christmas
Kevin Davis 2024

When I was very young, Christmas was filled with wonder,
Running here and there, our world a joyful thunder.
Off to watch the lights and feel the snowflakes falling,
My parents, brothers, sisters—all of us went calling.

To see our friends and family, the joy was everywhere,
We found green trees, sweet music, and treats we’d share.
Each day we searched through catalogs of toys and dreams,
And wrote our letters, planning Christmas schemes.

On Christmas morn, we’d wake with gleaming eyes,
Presents wrapped in colors bright—a wondrous surprise!
The scent of pine and cinnamon warmed the air,
As carols by the fire glowed with love and care.

Laughter rang and stories spun, traditions old and new,
In that home of love, our happiness grew.
And never did we lose the truth of how this joy began—
That the Son of God was born to free the soul of man.

So each year now, as gentle snowflakes fall,
We gather close and cherish it all.
With love and light, we celebrate and know—
In Christmas magic, peace and hope still glow.
