The Wish

She wanted to hear the seagulls shrieking by the bay
and walk through gentle raindrops on a grey and foggy day

to see the purple crocus spreading across the hill
and look into the faces of every daffodil

to see the cherry blossoms floating through the skies
like a mad excited frenzy of paper butterflies

but the winter land was black and white
 and snow was everywhere

so back she went to wishing land
 curled up in her chair
