The Will Surrendered
The Will Surrendered
" 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill
his good purpose." Phil 2:13 NIV
Many do not surrender their will
To be guided and controlled by the Divine;
Are not used by the Holy Spirit;
A surrendered soul does not consign.
When the Spirit of God takes possession of the heart,
The life is radically transformed;
Sinful desires are put away,
And the life’s not costly adorned.
Talent and experience
Will not make us channels of light,
Unless the will is placed,
Where the Sun of righteousness beams bright.
Strong, selfish traits of character
Will give way to humility of service;
The attributes of Christ
Will shine forth without sin’s menace.
God is offended by acts that injure the influence
Of those who are doing His work down here.
The Holy Spirit’s influence is to be absorbed
By a heart of service and good cheer.
The Lord sends us warning and reproof,
So we may correct our errors,
But if we refuse to be corrected,
We cannot expect heaven’s favors.
We sow daily to the flesh or to the Spirit;
Guided from above or by willfulness;
Seeking a crop of worldly worth,
Or a crop of supernatural worthiness.
If our wills are surrendered to heaven,
We’ll desire to do God’s will;
Delight in helping and serving others;
Possess joy and peace tranquil.
