The Welcome Sound
I heard they can be spirit birds
sent down by those we loved
who passed so prematurely
who were called home far too soon
Though you’re no longer here
I feel your presence all around
These birds a sign that you are near
I garner comfort when I hear
their raspy distinctive sound in my ear
Each morning I awaken
to a sign that you are near
‘tis the sound of their ‘caw cawing’
that takes away my fear
You had always been enthralled
by these intelligent funereal birds
so no surprise
when I opened my eyes
to see two black crows
perched on my roof
a sign I’m sure
for this is proof…
I pray I hear forevermore
the welcome sound of their ‘caw ~ caw’
