The Way of Fire

Many claims from our distant past, State this was gifted by the Gods above. Yet looking beyond these lofty origins, The important discovery has been viewed to belove. Its very presence changed the landscape, Altering humanities path to this day. As it has both cleansed and destroyed, Whatever might have laid in its way. A strange irony exists with another need- Water, as the two will often negate. While both are recognized for our survival, Since the duo often dance to fill our plate. Mankind's quest remains to understand, This volatile force it seeks to control. Because we have seen some parts of its nature, But our comprehension is far from whole. We have progressed by many of its properties, As the heat looks to ever increase. Where we can even determine a sun's strength, And then surmise the energy release. Hence, our knowledge of this duality, where Creation and annihilation walk along a fine wire. Becomes a compelling pursuit and destiny, To know and follow, the way of fire.
