The Way I Love You

Like a child fallen asleep,
Like the sea, so blue and deep,
Like an apple cut into two –
This is the way I love you.

Like the mind of an old slave,
Like the bravest of the brave,
Like a long journey or queue –
This is the way I love you.

Like the dog of a blind man,
Like leaves after rain,
Like hot sand and like fresh dew –
This is the way I love you.

Like a flash full of desire,
Like an odd bird made of fire,
Like a promised wife, like youth –
This is the way I love you.
